Tooling Engineer - Injection Mold Maker (35792)

Global Automotive Tier 1 supplier is seeking an experienced Tooling Engineer to join their team. This position works closely with customers, tool shops, and manufacturing teams to ensure tooling is delivered on time, within budget, and meets quality and manufacturability requirements. This is a fulltime, direct hire position and 100% onsite work setting.

Tooling Engineer Responsibilities:

• Review product drawings, CAD data, and technical specifications to assess manufacturability and tooling requirements.
• Provide design-for-manufacturing (DFM) feedback and recommend product design improvements to customers.
• Develop mold specifications and support tooling supplier selection and sourcing activities.
• Lead tooling projects from design review through mold build, tool trials, and production launch.
• Manage external tool shops to ensure tooling programs remain on schedule and meet customer requirements.
• Participate in customer meetings and serve as the primary contact for tooling-related updates and concerns.
• Support manufacturing teams by troubleshooting tooling issues and driving corrective actions.
• Monitor tooling costs, project timelines, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Tooling Engineer Qualifications & Experience:

• Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in injection mold design, tooling engineering, or mold development.
• Experience within the automotive manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
• Mold Design certification, Mold Maker apprenticeship, or related tooling background is considered an asset.
• Strong understanding of injection molding processes, mold construction, and tooling standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD data, and technical specifications.
• Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customers, tool shops, and manufacturing facilities as required.
