Job Description
Job Title: Manager of Electrical Engineering (Senior Electrical Engineer)
Experience: 7-10 years
Location : Banaglore
Job Description
This role leads the development of advanced electrical hardware for energy storage systems, load controllers, and transfer switches. You will own the design and delivery of power electronics hardware that integrates closely with firmware, power subsystems, and mechanical assemblies. You will build and scale a high-performing hardware development team while staying hands-on in design reviews and lab debugging to ensure robust, production-ready products.
Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical engineering team responsible for the design, development, and validation of power electronics hardware for energy products.
- Own the full product lifecycle for electrical hardware, including schematic design, layout guidance, board bring-up, lab validation, and design for test and manufacture.
- Architect and review designs that include analog signal conditioning, digital interfaces, microcontrollers, sensors, and communication buses such as CAN, UART, and RS-485.
- Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams to deliver highly integrated, production-ready hardware designs.
- Drive hardware builds across EVT, DVT, and PVT phases, managing technical risk and coordinating with contract manufacturers and external test partners.
- Provide technical mentorship to engineers, lead structured design reviews, and actively support the professional development of team members.
- Support sustaining engineering activities, including investigation and resolution of field issues as products mature in the market.
- Ensure design documentation is complete, accurate, and controlled, including managing engineering change orders (ECOs) and related processes.
- Apply knowledge of PCB engineering, including fabrication and assembly technologies, strain and stress considerations, thermal management, and connector and cable design, to improve reliability and manufacturability.
- Incorporate design constraints related to thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), safety, and manufacturability into all hardware designs.
- Partner with operations and manufacturing stakeholders to support design transfer to contract manufacturing and high-volume production.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or MSEE).
- 7+ years of experience in power electronics hardware development.
- Strong background in electronics design, embedded systems, and board-level hardware architecture.
- Hands-on lab experience with board bring-up, hardware validation, debugging, and use of test and automation tools.
- Familiarity with design constraints related to thermal management, EMC, safety, and manufacturability.
- Proven track record of cross-functional execution in new product development environments.
- Experience with design documentation and engineering change order (ECO) control processes.
- background in developing high-reliability products that operate in demanding environments and support long warranty periods.
- Experience in PCB engineering, including fabrication and assembly technologies, strain and stress analysis, thermal management, and connector and cable design.
- Proficiency with schematic design and hardware development workflows.
- Experience working through EVT, DVT, and PVT build phases.
- Knowledge and practical use of communication buses such as CAN and UART.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with energy systems, IoT devices, or embedded hardware in regulated environments.
- Exposure to compliance testing such as UL, IEC, and EMC, and experience supporting design transfer to contract manufacturing.
- Experience shipping products at scale, ideally in volumes of 1 million units or more.
- Knowledge of low-power design techniques, sensor integration, and signal integrity optimization.
- Prior experience building, leading, or scaling hardware development teams.
- Embedded firmware development experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with firmware engineers.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including boundary and force diagrams, stress and strain, one-dimensional thermodynamics, and common manufacturing techniques such as CNC machining, injection molding, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
You will work in a dynamic product development environment that spans conference room design reviews and hands-on lab work. The role involves close collaboration with firmware, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams, as well as interaction with contract manufacturers and external test partners. You will engage in end-to-end hardware development across EVT, DVT, and PVT build phases, using modern lab equipment and test automation tools to validate and debug board-level designs. The environment emphasizes high reliability, long-life energy products, robust documentation, and disciplined engineering processes that support high-volume manufacturing.
