Job Description
As an IV Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for mixing IV and other pharmaceutical preparations using proper sterile compounding techniques. You will ensure safe and effective drug preparation by adhering to all documented instructions, warnings, and procedures, as well as best practices. Your role involves performing environmental monitoring, sanitation, testing, and other activities required by applicable federal and state pharmacy regulations and USP-797 standards. Additionally, you will maintain accurate drug inventory through purchasing, receiving, stocking, pulling, counting, and tracking drug items according to established policies.
Responsibilities
- Mix IV and other pharmaceutical preparations using proper sterile compounding techniques.
- Adhere to documented instructions, warnings, procedures, and best practices to ensure safe and effective drug preparation.
- Perform environmental monitoring, sanitation, testing, and other activities as required by federal and state pharmacy regulations and USP-797 standards.
- Maintain accurate drug inventory through purchasing, receiving, stocking, pulling, counting, and tracking drug items.
- Clean ante-room and clean room according to USP-797 standards and maintain clean room logs.
- Verify lot numbers and perform periodic checks in inventory.
Essential Skills
- Experience with sterile compounding techniques.
- Knowledge of pharmacy compounding, infusion, and IV preparation.
- Familiarity with USP 797 standards.
- Possession of a VA State Pharmacy Technician License.
- Clean room experience (certification preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Current, active, and in good standing technician license/registration in the state of employment.
- Experience as a pharmacy technician preferred.
- Home infusion therapy experience preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
Work Environment
This role is based in a closed-door pharmacy environment focused on at-home infusion. The position offers room for growth and advancement, and does not involve patient-facing responsibilities. You will be part of a team of 15 people, working Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, with rotating on-call weekend duties, primarily on Saturdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chantilly, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
