Job Description

Be the force behind uptime

Step into a day where your craftsmanship keeps a corrugator humming, converting lines synced, and a plant running safely and efficiently. As our Industrial Reliability Technician, you’ll install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and facility systems so manufacturing can hit performance targets without missing a beat. You’ll balance planned work (PMs/PdMs) with the unexpected, always aligning with strict safety, quality, and maintenance standards.

A day in the life

  • Start of shift: review LLumin CMMS assignments, parts availability, and safety priorities.
  • On the floor: perform mechanical and electrical diagnostics on corrugator and converting assets; respond fast to breakdowns to stabilize production.
  • Mid-shift: complete PM/PdM tasks with precision—measure, inspect, document readings, and flag potential failures before they grow.
  • Afternoon: close work orders with complete notes (problem, actions, parts, measurements) and hand off clear status to the next shift.

Core technical focus

  • Mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on corrugator, converting equipment, and facility systems.
  • Execute work orders: PMs, PdMs, routine repairs, and project tasks—completed correctly within the shift wherever possible.
  • Verify repair effectiveness before releasing equipment back to production; never pass incomplete work without documentation and communication to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Engage in structured troubleshooting and root-cause problem solving to eliminate repeat failures.

Safety first—always

  • Follow Lockout/Tagout, Arc Flash, PPE, Hot Work, and confined space requirements without exception.
  • Participate in daily safety huddles and maintenance meetings.

Preventive & predictive excellence

  • Perform scheduled PM and PdM activities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Identify/report potential failures during inspections and suggest improvements to PM scope and frequency.
  • Conduct basic condition monitoring (visual, vibration, temperature, etc., as trained).

CMMS discipline (LLumin)

  • Document all work in LLumin CMMS: problem description, work performed, parts used, and measurements/readings.
  • Close work orders on time; create follow-up notifications/work requests as needed.

Parts & materials stewardship

  • Identify/request required parts and coordinate with MRO/Parts personnel to ensure accuracy.
  • Return unused components to inventory and help correct incomplete or inaccurate parts data.

Team play & shift support

  • Communicate effectively with Maintenance Supervisors, fellow technicians, and production personnel.
  • Provide clear shift handoffs and support colleagues/departments as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new technicians when applicable.

Continuous improvement mindset

  • Spot opportunities to reduce downtime, boost reliability, and eliminate chronic issues.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and recommend equipment/procedural enhancements.

Housekeeping & organization

  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow 5S in shop and production areas.
  • Store tools/materials properly and dispose of scrap appropriately.

Additional responsibilities

  • Support weekend, off-shift, and emergency work when required.
  • Assist with project work and capital improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Experience in corrugated manufacturing or a similar industrial setting preferred.
  • Successfully demonstrate all Class B qualifications.
  • Provide your own tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry (preferred) or in comparably sized manufacturing processes.

Skills & abilitiesTechnical

  • Strong mechanical aptitude: bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, and related systems.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting of motors, sensors, switches; drives preferred.
  • Read/interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and OEM manuals.
  • Hands-on experience repairing industrial equipment.

Problem solving

  • Use logical, step-by-step methods to isolate failures and identify root cause vs. symptoms.
  • Ask questions and escalate issues when appropriate.

Tools & systems

  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic computer skills (CMMS, email, documentation) and the ability to learn/use LLumin CMMS.

Communication & teamwork

  • Clear communicator across shifts/departments; receptive to instruction and feedback.
  • Collaborative team contributor.

Work ethic & accountability

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and punctual with strong ownership of assigned work.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and off-shifts as needed.

Mathematical & reasoning

  • Read a tape measure accurately and quickly; calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rate; apply high-school level math.
  • Solve practical problems in a fast-paced environment and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.

Technical knowledge

  • Foundational understanding of industrial equipment operation, production processes, and quality requirements.
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance concepts.

Certificates & licenses

  • Maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and any role-specific certifications required for certain areas/equipment.
  • Additional certifications as required (e.g., LOTO, Arc Flash).

Physical demands

  • Regularly stand, walk, talk/hear; frequently use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally sit.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 100 lbs.

Work environment

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts; frequent wet/humid conditions.
  • Occasional high places, fumes/airborne particles, and vibration.
  • Loud noise levels typical of industrial settings.

How your performance is measured

  • Operating standards in quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction, and productivity (set and communicated annually).
  • Personal growth goals developed jointly each year.
  • Employee relations: professionalism, respect, and communication.
  • Creativity: contributions of new and innovative ideas.
