Senior Automation Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer with strong expertise in backend API automation, particularly in Java, REST Assured, and cloud-based testing tools. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and implementing robust automation frameworks, ensuring high-quality API validation, and collaborating closely with development and QA teams to drive excellence across our software delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks for backend API testing using Java and Selenium.
• Build and execute comprehensive API test cases, covering functional, regression, and performance aspects.
• Utilize tools like Jira to manage test cases, track defects, and ensure traceability.
• Integrate API automation into CI/CD pipelines for seamless execution.
• Work with AWS services to validate APIs in cloud-native environments.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA to define automation strategies and improve product quality.
• Mentor junior team members in automation best practices.
• Provide detailed reporting and analysis of test execution results, ensuring issues are identified and resolved quickly.

Must-Have Skills

• 6+ years of experience in automation engineering, with a focus on API testing.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Selenium framework.
• Proficiency in API testing methodologies and validation strategies
• Expertise with Jira for defect tracking and test management.
• Working knowledge of AWS services related to API hosting, monitoring, or testing.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with additional test automation frameworks (e.g., Postman/Newman, Karate).
• Exposure to performance testing of APIs.
• Experience with containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
