About the Team

ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified Career Coach at Lorain Preparatory High School in Lorain, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. The Career Coach supports students in exploring, planning, and preparing for post-secondary education and career pathways. This role focuses on equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to make informed decisions about their future, including college enrollment, college credit plus, credit recovery, selecting career-based electives, workforce entry, parent outreach, and career advancement opportunities.

Lorain Preparatory High School is an extension of the safe, accredited, and academically strong school system offered by ACCEL Schools’ K-8 programs in Lorain and Elyria. The school offers hands-on, project-based learning and small class sizes. Lorain Preparatory High School is part of ACCEL Schools, an established network of public charter schools serving K-12 students throughout the United States since 2014.

About the Opportunity: 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide individualized and group career coaching to students, including career exploration, goal setting, and planning.  
  • Assist students in developing career readiness skills such as resume writing, interviewing, and professional communication.  
  • Support students in identifying post-secondary options, including college, trade schools, certifications, apprenticeships, and employment.  
  • Collaborate with school staff to integrate career readiness into the curriculum and student support services.  
  • Organize and facilitate career-related events such as job fairs, college visits, guest speakers, and workshops.  
  • Maintain partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and higher education institutions to expand student opportunities.  
  • Track student progress and maintain accurate records of services provided.  
  • Assist students with applications for college, financial aid, scholarships, and employment opportunities.  
  • Provide labor market information and career pathway guidance aligned with regional workforce needs.  
  • Support compliance with grant requirements, including documentation and reporting.  

About You: 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in education, counseling, human services, workforce development, or a related field.  
  • Master’s degree preferred.  

Experience 

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with youth, students, or in career counseling, workforce development, or education settings.  
  • Experience in college and career readiness programming preferred.  

Skills and Competencies 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  
  • Knowledge of career pathways, labor market trends, and post-secondary education options.  
  • Ability to build relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.  
  • Organizational and data-tracking skills.  
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school environment.Top of Form

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $41,000 - 50,500.  Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
