Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to join a busy clinical team in Salem, VA. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering consistent weekday hours and the chance to grow within a supportive healthcare environment.
Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff with patient care and administrative duties while ensuring efficient patient flow and a high standard of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas
- Record patient information including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication updates
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during procedures
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated
- Maintain cleanliness and disinfection of exam and treatment rooms
- Stock and prepare exam rooms; order supplies as needed
- Obtain and organize patient records prior to visits or procedures
- Answer incoming calls and route messages to appropriate staff
- Call in prescriptions and communicate patient information as directed
- Manage scheduling updates, including reschedules and no-shows
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, typing, and chart preparation
- Enter orders under provider supervision when applicable
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or CCMA) – required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Minimum 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
