Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to join a busy clinical team in Salem, VA. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering consistent weekday hours and the chance to grow within a supportive healthcare environment.

Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff with patient care and administrative duties while ensuring efficient patient flow and a high standard of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas
• Record patient information including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication updates
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during procedures
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated
• Maintain cleanliness and disinfection of exam and treatment rooms
• Stock and prepare exam rooms; order supplies as needed
• Obtain and organize patient records prior to visits or procedures
• Answer incoming calls and route messages to appropriate staff
• Call in prescriptions and communicate patient information as directed
• Manage scheduling updates, including reschedules and no-shows
• Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, typing, and chart preparation
• Enter orders under provider supervision when applicable

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or CCMA) – required
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Minimum 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
