Cloud Support Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Support Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cloud computing, software development, and systems administration. The Support Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing cloud infrastructure, supporting application deployment, and ensuring seamless operation of enterprise IT services. Candidates with experience in DevOps practices, scripting languages, and microservices architecture will thrive in this environment.

Duties

• Provide technical support for cloud-based applications and infrastructure across multiple platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP, and OpenStack.
• Manage containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes to deploy scalable applications.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, Bash scripting, and Shell Scripting.
• Support virtualization environments including VMware and Citrix to optimize resource utilization.
• Develop and maintain APIs and web services utilizing RESTful architecture for SaaS, PaaS, IaaS solutions.
• Collaborate with development teams on application deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Git.
• Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues related to Linux, UNIX, Windows operating systems, databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle), and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Implement security best practices including VPN configuration and cloud security protocols.
• Assist in designing cloud architecture solutions that incorporate microservices, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and Internet of Things (IoT) integrations.
• Participate in SDLC processes ensuring high-quality software development lifecycle management.

Requirements

• Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform; familiarity with cloud architecture principles including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware and OpenStack; experience with Citrix is a plus.
• Proficiency in containerization tools such as Docker; orchestration with Kubernetes is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools including Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet; scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash (Unix shell), Python or Ruby are essential.
• Solid understanding of operating systems including Linux/Unix/Windows environments; familiarity with operating system internals is preferred.
• Experience developing or supporting web services using REST APIs; knowledge of microservices architecture is advantageous.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools; version control expertise with Git required.
• Knowledge of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle; understanding of SQL/PL-SQL/T-SQL is necessary.
• Strong background in software development languages like JavaScript, Java, Go or Ruby on Rails is preferred.
• Understanding of network security protocols including VPNs; experience configuring cloud security measures required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; relevant certifications in cloud computing or DevOps are a plus.
