Qualifications
- Minimum of five years successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision and/or administration.
- Graduate study beyond the Master’s degree with emphasis on elementary school (K‑4) curriculum, supervision, and/or administration.
- A valid New York State SAS, SBL or SDA certification by Board appointment date.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Provide leadership and work effectively with staff members, colleagues, parents, and others in the educational community.
- Use creative problem solving and decision‑making skills.
- Provide a positive learning environment resulting in continuous improvement for students and staff.
- Speak and write clearly and effectively.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications may be found appropriate by the Superintendent.
Responsibilities
- Familiarity and experience with trauma‑informed teaching, discipline practices and multi‑tiered systems of support.
- Experience with students of various abilities across a wide range of special education programs.
- Knowledge of IEPs, 504 Plans, Behavior Intervention Plans and experience assisting students and faculty to ensure fidelity and progress monitoring.
- Assist the principal in the supervision and evaluation of classroom instruction.
- Assist in implementing instructional strategies, including supporting the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques for improvement of instruction.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff members to the teaching environment at the elementary school, especially as it relates to the area of students, personnel policy and procedures and general building.
- Supervise and evaluate professional and support staff assigned to the building.
- Coordinate support staff services within the building (custodial, clerical, cafeteria monitors, and educational aides).
- Carry out disciplinary procedures as established by the building and/or District.
- Assist in screening, interviewing and recommending candidates for professional and support staff positions.
- Assist with developing the master schedule based on student need, manage student scheduling, and determine room utilization.
- Coordinate student activities and events (field trips, co‑curricular, extra‑curricular, wellness events).
- Develop, update, and maintain all emergency plans, including fire and evacuation as well as isolation, and conduct related drills.
- Coordinate and supervise the administration of examinations, state assessments related data reporting and state reports.
- Along with the principal, coordinate placement of student teachers.
- Serve as BEDS Coordinator.
- Plan and participate in field trips and assembly programs.
- Supervise events and activities outside normal school hours.
- Assume all responsibilities of the Principal in the Principal’s absence.
- Assume responsibility for other tasks as assigned by the Principal.
Salary
Starting at $82,250 – $110,750.
