General Position Description:
XSITE LLC is looking for a highly self-motivated Data Engineer who will work closely with NIWC Pacific employees and Fleet to progress analytics projects through the complete data science life cycle. These projects will follow an agile methodology by organizing work into “sprints”, with the scope of each sprint decided beforehand by the Government, in order to adjust to changing circumstances or to capitalize on new opportunities discovered during the project.
Job Description
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be required to:
- Collaborate closely with NIWC Pacific personnel and Fleet stakeholders to execute analytics initiatives across the full data science lifecycle (problem definition, data collection, modeling, evaluation, and deployment)
- Apply Agile methodologies by organizing work into iterative sprints, with priorities and scope defined in coordination with Government stakeholders to adapt to evolving mission needs
- Partner directly with Government clients to translate operational and business challenges into data-driven problem statements and analytical approaches
- Develop and implement advanced analytical solutions using Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and statistical modeling techniques
- Validate and refine analytical models through testing, evaluation, and stakeholder feedback to ensure mission relevance and accuracy
- Communicate technical findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, supporting data-informed decision-making
- Identify opportunities to leverage new data sources, tools, and methodologies to enhance analytical capabilities and project outcomes
- Ensure compliance with DoD standards, data governance policies, and security requirements throughout all phases of analysis
Basic Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Active Secret Clearance Required
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or Mathematicsor related field that includes study of statistics and applied mathematics
- 2-5years of experience with the full data science lifecycle, including problem definition/hypothesis
- 0-3 years of experience with applying statistics, probability, and data engineering fundamentals
- 0-3 years of experience with predictive modeling and machine learning (e.g., clustering, classification, time series analysis, regression techniques)
- 0-3 years of experience with Python programming, data engineering, feature engineering, and data visualization
- 0-3 years of experience with Python and data science libraries, such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Scikit-Learn, and/or Tensor Flow/Keras
- 0-3 years of experience with data tools and platforms, such as Tableau, Git and cloud services (e.g.,AWS, Azure)
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Desired skills
- Experience with data extraction and manipulation from legacy, relational (SQL) database systems
- Experience with artificial intelligence including optical character recognition (OCR) and/or deep learning
- Experience working with Federal Government, including as Civilian or Contractor
