Job Description

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Telecom Network Engineer to join their dynamic team in Gatineau, Quebec, CA . This is an on-site position, crucial for the design, implementation, and maintenance of their telecommunications infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the network. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in network protocols, hardware, and software, along with strong troubleshooting skills. You will play a key role in network upgrades, capacity planning, and the deployment of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage complex telecommunications networks, including LAN, WAN, and wireless technologies. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance. Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and migrations. Configure and maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Develop and implement network security measures to protect against threats. Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network infrastructure with other systems. Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures. Perform capacity planning and ensure the network can scale to meet future demands. Stay current with the latest advancements in telecommunications and networking technologies. Provide technical support and guidance to junior network engineers and other IT staff. Participate in on-call rotation for network emergencies. Conduct root cause analysis for network incidents and implement preventative measures. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in telecommunications network engineering. Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS), network hardware, and network security principles. Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds) and packet analysis tools. Hands-on experience with configuration of Cisco, Juniper, or similar network devices. Understanding of wireless technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi, 4G/5G). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
