Job Description

Our client, a prominent global leader in the FMCG industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Development Scientist to join their innovative R&D team. This role, based in Laval, Quebec, CA , focuses on the development of novel food ingredients and product applications. The Senior Product Development Scientist will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and optimizing new food products and ingredients from bench-scale through to commercialization. This involves conducting extensive research, performing formulation trials, evaluating ingredient functionality, and ensuring products meet stringent quality, safety, and sensory standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong scientific background in food science or a related discipline, coupled with extensive experience in product development within the food industry. You should have excellent analytical skills, a deep understanding of ingredient interactions, and a proven ability to manage projects effectively. Responsibilities:

Lead the research and development of new food ingredients and product formulations. Conduct bench-top experiments, pilot plant trials, and sensory evaluations to optimize product performance. Evaluate the functionality and application of various food ingredients. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Operations, and Quality Assurance. Develop and execute research plans, document experimental results, and prepare technical reports. Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety regulations and quality standards. Troubleshoot technical issues during product development and scale-up. Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and competitive products. Present research findings and product development progress to stakeholders. Contribute to intellectual property generation through patents and publications. Qualifications:

Master's or Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in product development within the FMCG or food ingredients sector. Strong understanding of food chemistry, ingredient functionality, and processing technologies. Proven experience in formulation development and optimization. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Proficiency in laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Experience with sensory evaluation methodologies. Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the food industry. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
