Job Description

Our client, a pioneering biotechnology firm focused on accelerating drug discovery through advanced computational methods, is seeking a talented Senior Computational Biologist. This role is integral to our research efforts, requiring a deep understanding of biological systems and strong computational expertise to analyze large-scale biological datasets. You will collaborate closely with bench scientists and data scientists to identify novel therapeutic targets, design experiments, and interpret complex genomic, proteomic, and transcriptomic data. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in applying bioinformatics tools and statistical methods to biological problems, with a passion for driving scientific innovation.

Responsibilities: Design and implement computational approaches to analyze large-scale biological data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Develop and apply statistical and machine learning models to identify patterns, generate hypotheses, and discover novel biomarkers and drug targets. Collaborate with experimental biologists to design in silico and in vivo studies, interpret results, and guide research directions. Develop and maintain robust bioinformatics pipelines for data processing, quality control, and analysis. Visualize complex biological data to effectively communicate findings to both scientific and non-scientific audiences. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computational biology, bioinformatics, and relevant scientific fields. Contribute to the publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at scientific conferences. Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing research environment. Evaluate and integrate new computational tools and technologies into the research workflow. Work closely with software engineers to develop scalable and efficient analytical platforms. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience in computational biology or bioinformatics. Strong programming skills in Python or R, and experience with relevant bioinformatics libraries (e.g., Biopython, SciPy, NumPy, tidyverse). Proficiency in analyzing large-scale omics datasets (e.g., NGS sequencing data). Experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques applied to biological problems. Familiarity with biological databases and public resources (e.g., NCBI, Ensembl, TCGA, GTEx). Excellent understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and disease mechanisms. Proven ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments or cloud computing platforms is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team.
