Job Description

Our client, a pioneering force in the automotive industry, is seeking an accomplished Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to join their advanced research and development facility in Washington, D.C., US . This role is integral to designing, developing, and integrating complex vehicle systems, driving innovation in automotive technology. You will lead projects focused on areas such as powertrain control, vehicle dynamics, ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), or connectivity. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical understanding of automotive systems, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and proven experience in systems engineering methodologies. This position requires hands-on work within a collaborative R&D environment, contributing to the next generation of automotive solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and testing engineers, to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities: Define system requirements, architecture, and specifications for automotive systems. Lead the design, development, and integration of complex automotive subsystems. Utilize systems engineering principles (e.g., requirements management, interface control, verification, validation). Develop and execute test plans for system validation and performance testing. Analyze test data and simulation results to identify issues and optimize system performance. Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and mechanical engineering teams. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues. Contribute to the development of new automotive technologies and product roadmaps. Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262, AUTOSAR) and regulatory requirements. Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. Participate in design reviews and project planning activities. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the automotive sector. Support vehicle integration and validation activities. Manage project timelines and deliverables effectively. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive systems engineering or a related field. Proven experience with vehicle systems such as powertrain, chassis, ADAS, infotainment, or connectivity. Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle, tools (e.g., DOORS, Cameo), and methodologies. Experience with modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink). Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively. Experience with functional safety standards (ISO 26262) is a plus. Ability to work full-time on-site in our Washington D.C. R&D center. Proficiency in C/C++ or other relevant programming languages is advantageous. A passion for automotive innovation and technology.
