Job Description

Our client, a leader in sustainable agricultural practices and innovative crop management, is seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced Senior Agronomist to join their team in Baltimore, Maryland . This role is essential for providing expert guidance on crop production, soil health, and sustainable farming techniques to support diverse agricultural operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep scientific understanding of plant physiology, soil science, and pest management, coupled with practical experience in applying these principles in real-world agricultural settings. You will be instrumental in optimizing crop yields, improving soil quality, and promoting environmentally responsible farming methods.

Key responsibilities include conducting detailed soil analysis and providing recommendations for nutrient management, fertilization, and soil amendment strategies. You will develop and implement integrated pest and disease management programs, advising growers on the most effective and sustainable control methods. The role involves staying current with agricultural research, new technologies, and best practices in crop cultivation, and sharing this knowledge with growers and internal teams. You will provide technical support and consultation on various crops, addressing challenges related to planting, growth, irrigation, and harvesting. Collaborating with research and development teams on field trials and new product evaluations is also a key aspect. Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable agricultural practices will be a core focus. Developing and delivering training programs for agricultural staff and stakeholders on agronomic principles and techniques is also part of this role.

Required qualifications include a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a closely related agricultural discipline. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in agronomy, with extensive hands-on experience in crop production and soil management, is essential. Strong knowledge of soil chemistry, plant pathology, entomology, and agricultural economics is required. Proficiency in using soil testing equipment and interpreting laboratory results is a must. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are critical for advising a diverse range of stakeholders. The ability to conduct field research and interpret data effectively is also necessary.
