You will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling chemical processes for novel compounds, ensuring efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate possesses a Ph.D. in Organic or Process Chemistry, extensive experience in synthetic route design and process scale-up, and a strong understanding of analytical techniques. Your expertise will be crucial in advancing our client's product pipeline from laboratory synthesis to pilot production.
Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimize synthetic routes for complex organic molecules suitable for large-scale manufacturing. Scale up laboratory-based chemical processes to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing levels, addressing potential challenges in safety, yield, and purity. Conduct rigorous process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate safety protocols. Develop and validate analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, NMR, MS) to monitor reaction progress and ensure product quality. Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during process development, scale-up, and manufacturing. Collaborate closely with research chemists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure successful technology transfer. Generate comprehensive process documentation, including batch records, technical reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Stay current with the latest advancements in synthetic chemistry, process development, and green chemistry principles. Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio through invention disclosures and patent applications. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and budget constraints. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field. Minimum of 6-8 years of hands-on experience in process chemistry, with a strong emphasis on synthetic route design and scale-up. Demonstrated expertise in developing robust and scalable chemical processes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) or fine chemicals. Proficiency in a wide range of synthetic organic chemistry techniques and purification methods. Extensive experience with analytical instrumentation and data interpretation (HPLC, GC, NMR, MS, IR). Thorough understanding of chemical engineering principles relevant to process scale-up. Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP) is highly desirable. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex chemical processes and implement effective solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present technical information clearly. Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. A commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable chemical practices.
