The Senior Grant Writer will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, and managing the grant application process to secure financial support for the organization's programs and initiatives. You will play a critical role in ensuring the sustainability and growth of the organization by identifying and cultivating relationships with foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This role requires exceptional writing, research, and persuasive communication skills, along with a deep understanding of the non-profit sector and fundraising best practices. The ideal candidate is passionate about social impact and has a proven track record of successfully securing grants.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and research potential funding sources, including foundations, government grants, and corporate sponsorships, relevant to the organization's mission. Develop persuasive and well-researched grant proposals, narratives, and budgets in response to funding opportunities. Write clear, concise, and compelling grant applications that effectively articulate the organization's needs, programs, and impact. Manage the entire grant lifecycle, from prospect research and proposal development to submission, reporting, and stewardship. Collaborate with program staff and leadership to gather necessary information and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Maintain a grants calendar and ensure timely submission of all proposals and reports. Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation program officers and other funders. Track grant outcomes and prepare comprehensive reports for funders and internal stakeholders. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising. Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy and donor engagement efforts. Proofread and edit grant materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to funder guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Non-profit Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in grant writing and fundraising, with a strong portfolio of successful grant applications. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and engaging narratives. Demonstrated experience in researching funding opportunities and identifying prospects. Thorough understanding of the grant application process and funder requirements. Proficiency in using grant databases and research tools (e.g., Foundation Directory Online). Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external funders. A passion for the non-profit sector and a commitment to the organization's mission. Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote setting. Familiarity with financial reporting and budget development for grants.
