Job Description

Join a cutting-edge scientific research organization as a Remote Lead Data Scientist. In this fully remote role, you will spearhead the development and implementation of advanced analytical models and machine learning algorithms to drive innovation in scientific discovery. You will work with vast datasets from diverse research projects, extracting meaningful insights that will shape future research directions and scientific breakthroughs. Your responsibilities will include:

Leading a team of data scientists and analysts in the design and execution of data-driven research initiatives. Developing and deploying sophisticated statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics tools. Extracting, cleaning, and transforming large, complex datasets from various scientific domains. Identifying key trends, patterns, and anomalies within research data to generate actionable insights. Designing and conducting A/B tests and other experiments to validate hypotheses and optimize research methodologies. Collaborating closely with researchers, engineers, and domain experts to understand their data needs and provide analytical solutions. Communicating complex technical findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports and presentations. Establishing best practices for data management, analysis, and model deployment in a remote setting. Mentoring and guiding junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and scientific computing.

We require a Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, with a proven track record of at least 7 years in data science, including significant experience in a leadership role. Expertise in Python or R, along with proficiency in libraries like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch, is essential. Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) are crucial. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills are expected. Previous experience in scientific research or a related field is a strong advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective remote collaboration. You must be a self-starter, highly organized, and adept at managing your time and workload independently.
