Job Description

Our client is seeking a diligent and skilled Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to join their fully remote team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the continuous availability, performance, and security of our client's network infrastructure. You will be responsible for monitoring network systems, identifying and resolving network issues, and implementing proactive measures to prevent outages. This position requires a strong understanding of networking concepts, experience with monitoring tools, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment, albeit remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor network performance and availability using various NOC tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix). Detect, diagnose, and resolve network incidents and outages in a timely manner. Respond to alerts and alarms, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with other IT teams, including systems administrators and security analysts, to resolve complex issues. Document network events, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in incident management systems. Perform routine network health checks and system maintenance tasks. Assist in the implementation of network changes and upgrades under supervision. Contribute to the development and refinement of NOC procedures and best practices. Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams and configuration details. Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support. Escalate critical issues to senior engineers or management as needed. Proactively identify potential network problems and recommend preventive solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered. 2+ years of experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or similar network support role. Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF). Experience with network monitoring tools and methodologies. Familiarity with common network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, etc. Knowledge of network security principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work independently in a remote setting. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
