Our client, a prominent provider of industrial machinery and equipment, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Field Service Technician to join their team in Chandigarh. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role requiring significant on-site presence to provide expert installation, maintenance, and repair services. You will be the technical point of contact for clients, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of their equipment. The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a dedication to delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and setup of industrial machinery and equipment according to technical specifications and manufacturer guidelines. Conduct routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics to identify and address potential issues before they arise. Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, ensuring minimal downtime for clients. Provide technical support and guidance to customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices. Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and diagnostic information. Document all service activities, including repairs, maintenance, and parts used, accurately and promptly. Manage spare parts inventory and ensure necessary components are available for service calls. Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide timely updates on service progress. Identify opportunities for upselling services, parts, or upgrades to enhance customer equipment performance. Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies during on-site service operations. Train and mentor junior field service technicians, sharing knowledge and expertise. Liaise with the engineering and sales departments to provide feedback on product performance and customer needs.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field. Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, with a focus on industrial machinery or heavy equipment. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics. Experience with diagnostic tools and testing equipment. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel extensively within the assigned region. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Physical ability to lift heavy components, work in various environmental conditions, and perform manual labor as required. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and control systems is highly desirable. Previous experience leading or mentoring a team is a plus.
