Our client, a premier civil engineering and design firm, is seeking a highly experienced Lead Civil Infrastructure Engineer to manage and execute complex projects from concept through completion. This position is based in our office in Nashville, Tennessee, US , and requires a dedicated professional committed to delivering exceptional results.
As the Lead Civil Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and oversight of large-scale infrastructure projects, including transportation networks, water systems, and site development. You will lead a team of talented engineers, ensuring the technical integrity and quality of all designs. This role involves close collaboration with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project success, adherence to budgets, and timely delivery. Your expertise will be crucial in mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of civil infrastructure projects, including roadways, bridges, water/wastewater systems, and stormwater management. Manage project lifecycles, from initial planning and feasibility studies to final design, permitting, and construction administration. Supervise and mentor a team of civil engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and quality control. Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments. Prepare and review detailed engineering reports, calculations, specifications, and construction drawings. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., AASHTO, state DOT standards, EPA guidelines). Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders. Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring efficient resource allocation. Contribute to business development efforts by assisting with proposal preparation and client presentations. Champion best practices in civil engineering design and project management. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Tennessee or ability to obtain reciprocity. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil infrastructure design and project management. Extensive experience with transportation engineering, water resources, or site development projects. Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and hydraulic modeling software. Strong understanding of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and permitting processes. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to mentor junior engineers. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Experience in client management and business development is a significant asset.
