Job Description

Our client, a leading organization focused on public service and innovation, is looking for an ambitious and eager Junior Data Scientist to join their dynamic team in Washington, D.C., US . This internship provides an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a challenging and rewarding environment. You will work alongside experienced data scientists, contributing to impactful projects that leverage data to drive insights and inform critical decisions. The ideal candidate is a recent graduate or current student with a strong foundation in statistical analysis, programming, and a passion for uncovering patterns within large datasets.

Key Responsibilities: Assist in collecting, cleaning, and transforming large datasets from various sources. Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms under the guidance of senior data scientists. Visualize data using various tools and techniques to communicate findings effectively. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights. Assist in the design and execution of experiments to test hypotheses. Document methodologies, code, and results thoroughly. Learn and apply new data science techniques and tools. Contribute to the development of data-driven solutions that address organizational challenges. Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative learning environment. Support the maintenance and improvement of existing data pipelines and models. Conduct literature reviews on relevant data science topics and research. Help in preparing reports and presentations for stakeholders. Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the analysis process. Gain exposure to various domains and applications of data science. Qualifications: Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a Master's or Ph.D. program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. A Bachelor's degree with relevant experience may be considered. Strong foundational knowledge of statistical concepts and machine learning algorithms. Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in data science, such as Python or R. Experience with data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, dplyr). Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, ggplot2, Tableau). Basic understanding of databases and SQL. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Enthusiasm for contributing to meaningful projects and gaining practical experience. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Prior internship or research experience in data science is a plus.
