Farm Manager - Sustainable Practices

A forward-thinking agricultural enterprise is seeking an experienced and dedicated Farm Manager to lead operations at their diversified farm in Virginia Beach, Virginia, US . This role requires a comprehensive understanding of modern farming techniques, sustainable practices, and effective team management. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of crop production and/or livestock management, including planning, planting, cultivation, harvesting, and post-harvest activities, or managing animal welfare, feeding programs, and breeding cycles. Key duties involve developing annual operating plans and budgets, managing resources efficiently (labor, equipment, supplies), implementing and monitoring sustainable farming methods to optimize yields and minimize environmental impact, and ensuring compliance with all agricultural regulations and safety standards. You will also supervise and train farm staff, coordinate equipment maintenance, and liaise with suppliers, distributors, and agricultural extension services. The ideal candidate possesses a degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field, coupled with significant practical experience in farm management. Proven ability to implement sustainable and organic farming principles is a strong advantage. Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. You must be proficient in farm equipment operation and maintenance, and possess a strong understanding of soil health, pest management, and water conservation.
