Our client, a leading chemical manufacturing company, is seeking a talented Chemical Process Engineer to join their innovative team in Edmonton, Alberta, CA . This role is essential for optimizing and troubleshooting chemical processes, ensuring efficient production, high product quality, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. You will be involved in process design, scale-up, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. This position requires a dedicated engineer who can work collaboratively within a plant setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products. Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve efficiency, yield, and quality. Conduct process simulations and modeling to predict performance and identify areas for improvement. Develop P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications. Oversee the implementation of new equipment and process modifications. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations. Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) procedures. Collaborate with production, R&D, and maintenance teams to achieve operational goals. Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for process optimization. Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and operational procedures. Participate in HAZOP studies and other risk assessment activities. Support pilot plant operations and scale-up activities. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. 3-5 years of experience in process engineering, preferably within the chemical or manufacturing industry. Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction kinetics. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation. Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in chemical plant operations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team. Proficiency in data analysis and report writing. Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is an asset. Ability to work effectively in a plant environment.
