Our client, a leading entity in sustainable agricultural practices, is seeking a dedicated and innovative Agricultural Scientist with a specialization in Agronomy for their operations in Richmond, Virginia, US . This role is vital for advancing crop productivity, soil health, and environmental stewardship through rigorous scientific research and practical application. The ideal candidate will be involved in designing and conducting field trials, analyzing data, and developing recommendations for crop management strategies. You will work closely with farmers, agronomists, and researchers to implement best practices and drive innovation in agricultural production. This position requires a strong foundation in plant science, soil science, and statistical analysis, combined with practical field experience.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage field experiments to evaluate crop performance, soil health, and new agricultural technologies. Collect, analyze, and interpret data from field trials and laboratory studies using statistical software. Develop evidence-based recommendations for crop nutrition, pest and disease management, irrigation, and soil conservation practices. Conduct soil testing and analysis to assess nutrient levels, pH, and other critical factors affecting crop growth. Research and evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, and farming techniques. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research, sales, and production, to support agricultural initiatives. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications detailing research findings and recommendations. Provide technical support and training to farmers, agronomists, and stakeholders on best agricultural practices. Stay current with scientific literature, industry trends, and regulatory changes impacting agriculture. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable farming principles. Participate in industry conferences and workshops to present research and network with peers. Maintain accurate records of all research activities and experimental data. Qualifications:

Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in agricultural research, field trials, or agronomic consulting. Strong understanding of plant physiology, soil chemistry, and crop-soil-environment interactions. Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) and data management. Experience with agricultural field equipment and sampling techniques. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific information clearly. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field sites.
