Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive agricultural operational plans, including crop selection, planting schedules, and harvesting strategies. Manage all aspects of farm operations, including irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease control, and soil management. Oversee the procurement of seeds, fertilizers, equipment, and other necessary supplies. Supervise and train farm labor, ensuring efficient task allocation and adherence to safety protocols. Manage equipment maintenance and repair schedules to minimize downtime. Monitor crop development and implement corrective actions as needed to optimize yield and quality. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, safety standards, and agricultural policies. Manage budgets, control costs, and track operational expenses. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, distributors, and agricultural service providers. Implement and promote sustainable farming practices. Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains. Plan and manage logistics for storage, transportation, and delivery of agricultural products. Stay informed about new technologies and best practices in agriculture and forestry. Ensure effective communication across all levels of the operation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Business Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in agricultural operations management. Proven experience in crop production, farm management, and resource optimization. Strong knowledge of soil science, plant physiology, pest management, and sustainable agriculture. Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills. Proficiency in agricultural technology and farm management software. Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and solve complex operational problems. Knowledge of relevant local and federal agricultural regulations. Valid driver's license and willingness to work in various weather conditions and on extended schedules. Experience in forestry or related land management is a plus.
