Westat has an immediate opening for a Research Assistant to contribute to ongoing health research exploring genetic, clinical, and environmental factors influencing cancer in individuals, families, and broader populations. This is supporting a project with the National Cancer Institute.

This is a full-time position to work at our client site in Rockville, Maryland or Bethesda, MD. This role is based in-office and requires working on-site five days a week.

Job Responsibilities

• Working with nurses and other members of an interdisciplinary team to collect data.
• Data entry into various tracking systems
• Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the data collected utilizing various tracking systems.
• Requesting medical records, imaging, and reports and pathology material from outside institutions
• Supporting clinical activity at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center and in the field.
• Facilitating specimen collection (assembling collection kits, communicating with lab and research participants, etc.)
• Providing administrative support as needed.

Basic Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in health or social science or related fields.
• At least one year of experience in research and/or clinical work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with specimen collection, processing and shipping.
• Demonstrated communication skills.
• Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced area.
• Organization skills, including time management ability.
• Detail oriented.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $50,000 to $60,000 commensurate with experience.
