About the Role

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our team and work directly alongside our Associate Counsel and senior legal staff. This role is designed for an experienced estate planning paralegal with a strong working knowledge of transfer taxes — gift, estate, and generation-skipping — who wants to apply that expertise inside a fast-moving fintech startup. You'll serve as the first line of support for advisor and customer questions with a legal or tax component, helping to triage, research, and resolve inquiries while partnering with counsel on more complex matters.

This is an ideal role for a paralegal who has spent meaningful time in a trusts and estates practice, understands the mechanics of wealth transfer planning, and is excited about leveraging technology to scale how that expertise gets delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for advisor and end-user questions with a legal, estate planning, or transfer tax component, providing clear and accurate responses
  • Triage and escalate complex legal questions to Associate Counsel and senior counsel with proper context and documentation
  • Support the Associate Counsel in reviewing estate plans for ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients, with a focus on document preparation, organization, and drafting summaries
  • Apply working knowledge of transfer tax concepts — gift tax, estate tax, GST, and the mechanics of Forms 706 and 709 — to customer questions and document review
  • Help maintain legal templates, knowledge base articles, and FAQ documentation related to estate planning workflows across all 50 states and DC
  • Partner with the Customer Support team to resolve tickets within support team workflows that require legal subject matter input and help them upskill on common estate planning and transfer tax concepts
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our AI support systems by flagging common legal inquiries, providing feedback on bot responses, and identifying use cases where AI can assist with first-line legal support
  • Stay current on developments in trusts and estates, wealth transfer, and tax-driven planning
  • Travel occasionally to customer on-sites, trainings, and company retreats as needed

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a paralegal in a trusts and estates practice, estate planning law firm, trust company, or wealth management firm
  • Strong working knowledge of transfer taxes — gift, estate, and generation-skipping — including the mechanics and reporting requirements of Forms 706 and 709
  • Solid understanding of estate planning structures including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and exposure to advanced techniques such as GRATs, ILITs, IDGTs, SLATs, and CLATs/CRATs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain legal and tax concepts in plain language to non-attorneys
  • Customer-first mindset with strong empathy, patience, and problem-solving instincts
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment and pivoting across competing priorities
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently
  • Comfort with technology — experience with SaaS platforms, Intercom, Salesforce, or similar tools is a plus
  • Ability to collaborate across departments, particularly with Customer Support, Product, and Legal

Nice to Have

  • Paralegal certification (NALA CP, NFPA PACE, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting UHNW clients or working in a multi-state estate planning practice
  • Prior experience in a fintech, wealthtech, legaltech, or estate planning–focused technology company
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted legal workflows or interest in helping shape them
  • Experience preparing or reviewing Forms 706 and 709 directly

Benefits & Perks

  • Hybrid work arrangement in New York City (minimum 3x a week)
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance options, with low-cost premium structures that demonstrate our commitment to offering great value to our employees.
  • 100% company-paid basic life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • 100% paid parental leave upon eligibility.
  • Company equity managed through Carta.
  • 401k with match and 100% vesting upon hire.
  • Flexible PTO in an environment where taking time off to relax or recharge is supported and encouraged.
  • Take time off for holidays—and yes, your birthday counts too. Celebrate, relax, and recharge without thinking twice.
  • Free estate planning for life!

Wealth is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people from all backgrounds to apply. Should you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let us know.
