Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 200 ranked national law firm seeking a 5 plus year Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate to join its Washington DC office.

This opportunity is focused on employee benefits and executive compensation support for corporate transactions, including advising on plan and compensation issues that arise in mergers and acquisitions and related strategic initiatives for clients across a range of sizes and structures.

The firm offers a well established national platform with a collaborative, partner accessible culture. The Washington DC team works closely with corporate and other specialists to deliver practical, commercially focused advice on sophisticated matters.

The Opportunity

The role will involve reviewing and advising on employee benefit plans, executive compensation arrangements, and related agreements in connection with mergers and acquisitions, as well as assisting with the design, implementation, and ongoing advising of benefit and compensation programs. The associate will manage multiple matters at different stages and work directly with deal teams to provide clear, detail oriented guidance under time sensitive transaction timelines.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a 5 plus year Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate with:

  • 5 plus years of substantive experience in employee benefits and executive compensation, including transactional support for mergers and acquisitions
  • Substantial experience drafting and reviewing sophisticated corporate and compensation related documents
  • Active admission to the District of Columbia Bar
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with attorneys and clients
  • Ability to work productively in an office based, computer intensive environment, including prolonged periods at a desk or standing desk
