Systems and Infrastructure Engineer

Company Overview:

This role operates across multiple colocation data center facilities in the region and is responsible for supporting physical IT infrastructure, including racking and stacking assets, shipping and receiving, customer request fulfillment, and diagnosing complex technical issues. The team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that power Walmart’s infrastructure, platforms, cloud computing, DevOps, and enterprise systems ensuring secure, scalable, and seamless experiences for customers and associates worldwide.

Role and Responsibilities of Systems and Infrastructure Engineer:

You will support and oversee daily operations of the physical data center environment while ensuring reliability, compliance, and operational excellence.

  • Support management of physical IT infrastructure, including installation, maintenance, lifecycle management, and documentation of hardware assets.
  • Assist with racking and stacking equipment, shipping and receiving, and validating work performed by internal and external teams.
  • Help implement and maintain site security controls, manage facility access, and escort vendors as required.
  • Support availability initiatives by assisting with network and power redundancy validation and load balancing at the rack level.
  • Monitor data center capacity, analyze system performance, and assist with planning upgrades and expansions.
  • Respond to and help resolve data center incidents, troubleshooting hardware and software issues while coordinating with vendors and engineers.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, PCI, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements, including audit preparation and documentation management.
  • Assist with budgeting processes, invoice validation, and financial tracking to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Engage directly with customers using strong communication and active listening skills to address needs and provide updates.
  • Collaborate with global teams using multiple communication tools to ensure operational continuity.
  • Contribute to team operations by completing assigned tasks and staying current with evolving technologies and best practices.

Required Skills and Experience of Systems and Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Solid understanding of data center operations, including servers, networking, and power path balancing.
  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, Nlyte, and SharePoint.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and strong general computer skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to follow goals and execute delegated tasks effectively.
  • Basic problem-solving capabilities, including analyzing issues and contributing to practical solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organized documentation.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in managing changing priorities and emergency situations.
  • Willingness to learn and stay updated on industry advancements, security protocols, and operational best practices.

  • Experience creating inclusive digital experiences aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and digital accessibility best practices.

Compensation and Benefits of Systems and Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Annual salary range: $84,000.00 - $156,000.00.
  • Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
