Job Description

Position Overview

As a Data Analyst based in Baltimore, MD (Hybrid – 3 days a week in the office) in a Full Time role, you will play a key role in helping our data product engineering team achieve delivery excellence. You will collaborate with business stakeholders to review and refine requirements, converting them into technical stories for engineers and quality engineers. You will also coordinate between engineers, product owners, testers, and consumers to ensure that all work aligns with our overarching business, data, and technical strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert functional requirements from product owners and business stakeholders into clear, well-groomed technical requirements ready to be implemented by engineers.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies to ensure the team's backlog is well-maintained and that all delivery teams have what they need for timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Analyze complex data scenarios and translate them into well-articulated requirements.
  • Work closely with data governance, data architecture, data product owners, and business teams to solicit and validate data requirements and business rules, ensuring alignment with data standards and best practices.
  • Review requirements with the technology team to ensure understanding and coordinate on any changes.
  • Develop test cases, plan strategies, and conduct rigorous testing to ensure data quality. Participate in functional testing of deliveries.
  • Provide support for issues and questions from business and technology teams.
  • Apply a lean agile mindset to support organizational agility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data analysis and requirement gathering in the asset management industry.
  • Experience collaborating directly with stakeholders, eliciting business requirements, and challenging them where necessary.
  • Good understanding of Agile delivery methodologies (Scrum preferred) with hands-on participation in Agile ceremonies.
  • Hands-on experience working with relational databases and data models, writing SQL queries, and performing detailed data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Prior experience in the Financial Services and Asset Management industries.
  • Knowledge of JSON structures and REST API calls is a plus.
  • Bonus Points: Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI and a good understanding of modern data lakehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Dremio, Iceberg).
