The Medical Assistant (MA) / First Aider (FA) stationed at a construction worksite serves as the primary onsite healthcare provider, bearing full responsibility for the immediate health, safety, and wellness of all site personnel. Operating from an onsite clinic, first aid station, or medical trailer, this critical role bridges the gap between emergency medical services (EMS) and site management ensuring swift, professional, and decisive response to every medical incident.
Role & responsibilities
Immediate Care & Clinical Operations
Emergency First Aid: Deliver immediate first-level medical care for all on-site accidents, injuries, and acute medical events.
Clinic Management: Maintain first aid room and the onsite medical facility fully stocked, hygienic, and operationally ready at all times.
Preventive Screenings: Conduct health camps and routine health check-ups including blood pressure, blood glucose, and vision screenings.
Occupational Health Monitoring: Monitor workers for hazardous material or environmental exposures; administer respiratory fit testing and hearing assessments.
B. Documentation & Reporting
Medical Records: Maintain meticulous records of all illnesses, injuries, treatments, incidents, and ongoing case monitoring.
Supply Chain Records: Track medical inventory levels and expiry dates, initiating timely replenishment as required.
Injury Register: Record all injuries accurately and promptly in the First Aid Register using prescribed formats.
Incident Reports: Maintain incident report forms, treatment records, and near-miss documentation to full compliance standard.
Escalation Protocol: Report major injuries immediately to the HSE Officer, Project Head, and Chief Health Officer (CHO) without delay.
C. Safety Promotion & Coordination
EHS Collaboration: Work alongside Environment, Health & Safety teams on wellness programs, health awareness initiatives, and safety inspections.
External Liaison: Coordinate with ambulances, hospitals, and clinics for all cases requiring advanced or specialist medical attention.
Accident Investigation: Support and actively participate in accident investigation procedures as directed by management.
Preferred candidate profile
Education: Certified First Aid & CPR training from a recognised institute.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred; ANM / GNM / Medical Assistant certification (preferred).
Experience: Minimum 13 years' experience in a construction or industrial site setting.
