Job Description

A Senior Accountant manages financial operations, oversees financial statement preparation, ensures accounting compliance, analyzes financial data, and often supervises junior accountants to provide insights and support strategic financial planning. Key duties include performing account reconciliations, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, supporting audits, and maintaining strong internal controls. The role requires a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent analytical and Excel skills, and a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting:

Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other accounting reports.

• Account Management:

Oversee account reconciliations, journal entries, and fixed asset management.

• Compliance:

Ensure adherence to accounting principles (like GAAP), internal controls, and tax regulations.

• Analysis & Planning:

Conduct financial analysis, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and provide insights for strategic financial decisions.

• Audits:

Support internal and external audits, acting as a point of contact for auditors.

• Process Improvement:

Develop and document accounting processes to enhance internal controls and efficiency.

• Mentorship:

Train, mentor, and supervise junior accounting staff, ensuring their work is accurate and complete.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication.
• Experience: Hands-on experience with accounting software and a proven track record in accounting roles.

Senior Accountants handle high-level, complex tasks and financial analysis, whereas junior accountants typically perform more administrative duties like data entry and basic reconciliations.
