Engineering Manager - Production Support / Customer Success

As the Director of Engineering for Veeva Compass, you’ll lead the development team for our full product line of health data products. You’ll lead the development team, composed of both first-line managers and direct report individual contributors, responsible for platform engineering, front-end engineering, data science developers, and QA. You’ll work with a cross-functional team of product managers, analytics, data scientists, and devops focused on high quality data products.

You’re comfortable leading a team responsible for a complex health data platform leveraging AWS, Spark, EMR, Java, and Rust, providing our life sciences customers with HIPAA compliant deidentified data, delivered the fastest in the industry. You’re excited to take on the challenge of managing and scaling billions of rows of transactional data. You have a lens for the future of bringing use case driven AI enhancements to our workflows and customers.

Lead a high performing development team, including first line managers ranging across software engineers, architects, data engineers, front-end developers and QA

Serve as the hands-on technical leader, diving into dev reviews, driving architectural discussions, and digging in to help continuously improve how we work

Champion high standards for code and architecture using Spark and AWS

Support production system reliability through investigation of complex issues and incorporation of findings into engineering improvements

Be a trusted partner for senior management to determine best solutions, help drive alignment and implement decisions throughout your team

Primarily remote with periodic coworking days in the Toronto office - a couple days per quarter

5+ years leading engineering teams, including first line managers

• 10+ years of enterprise software development
• Proven experience in architecting and delivering Big Data solutions in a fully managed cloud data warehouse
• Experience in driving technical architecture decisions and owning the full development process for external-facing, scalable data products
• Background in Life Sciences or Healthcare data

Experience leading development for a prescription and medical claims health data enterprise product

Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or information systems

• Base pay: $225,000 - $300,000 CAD

The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
