Assistant Controller - 12 month contract

This is a 12 month contract with permanent potential at the end of the contract

Role: This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a sharp technical accounting background, comfort working independently, and the confidence to manage the full finance function from day-to-day operations to executive reporting.

About the Opportunity

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
• Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow management.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business planning.
• Prepare and file tax remittances and other regulatory submissions.
• Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions as needed.
• Provide financial reporting and analysis to support leadership decision-making.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls.

About You

• CPA designation (or equivalent) preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or controllership experience, ideally in a professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and ADP payroll (or similar platforms).
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to develop financial reports and analyses.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
