Department: Geriatrics, MSK, & Multisystem Inpatient Rehab Program
Reports to: Allied Health & Outpatient Manager
Salary Range: $43.47 - $54.34 per hour
Hours: 15 hours biweekly 
Shifts: Weekends- Every other Saturday + Sunday
Status: Permanent part-time (0.2 FTE)

Position Summary

The Physiotherapist (PT) is an integral member of the Physiotherapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided. Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the PT enhances the quality of life of patients by:

Duties

  • Providing physical therapy assessment and treatment for Musculoskeletal, Geriatrics and Multi-systems patients for weekend therapy and admissions
  • Assessing for and prescribe mobility aids;
  • Collaborating with inter-professional team in providing patient focused care;
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and team members;
  • Participating in program planning and development and professional and hospital initiatives supporting quality management and research;
  • Complying with and commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy (BScPT) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions is required
  • Previous experience working with patients with conditions related to oncology and transplant preferred
  • Experience in Geriatrics preferred
  • Experience working weekends and/or float roles is an asset
  • Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada
  • Membership in Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
  • Experience as member of inter-professional team required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Complies with the legislation outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act, (1991)
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Demonstrates competence with departmental and hospital safety, emergency and infection control procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and to function in an independent, self-directed manner
  • Computer proficiency required
