Wage Range: $34.15 - $34.88 per hour. Start rate non-negotiable. 
Shifts: Days (08:00-1600)
Status: Temporary Full-time (Up to 6 Months)

Duties

• Prepare, paint, stain, varnish etc. a diverse array of internal and external surfaces; 
• Repair cracks, holes and other surface imperfections, 
• Sand and apply sealer, as required; 
• Order and stock materials;  
• Maintain the work area in good order; 
• Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required. 

• At minimum completion of high school plus Painter/Decorator Apprenticeship Program or recognized equivalent 
• 5,280 hours on-the-job training and 8 weeks (240 hours) of technical training in class each year for three years 
• Good physical strength, eyesight and color sense 
• Ability to work at heights and move heavy ladders 
• Ability to follow routine procedures 
• Ability to read blueprint and do trade related math (e.g., calculate averages, etc) 
• Ability to operate and calibrate simple machinery/equipment 
• Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards. 
• Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task. 
• Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy. 
• Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. 
• Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies. 
• Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand. 
• May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations 
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including: standing, gripping, kneeling, strength required to move heavy ladders; able to lift 21 kg to 30 kg 
• Ability to work at heights
