Systems Engineer – Infrastructure & Operations

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Systems Engineer to support the organization’s core infrastructure, operational resiliency, and enterprise technology services. This role is responsible for providing operational support, cross-functional coverage, technical administration, and infrastructure continuity across virtualization, storage, networking, backup, cloud, and Microsoft enterprise environments.

This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Technical Operations.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience across enterprise infrastructure platforms and demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, highly available production environment. This position will work closely with senior technical staff to strengthen operational redundancy, improve documentation and disaster recovery readiness, and support long-term infrastructure stability and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft Infrastructure, Cloud & Network Services

  • Provide operational administration and support for:
  • Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP services
  • Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online environments
  • Microsoft Intune and endpoint management solutions
  • Azure cloud services and identity integrations
  • Enterprise switching infrastructure and network services
  • Network monitoring, alerting, and operational maintenance
  • Assist with network troubleshooting, configuration validation, and infrastructure support activities.
  • Support cloud-based security, identity management, and service integration initiatives.

Infrastructure, Virtualization & Storage

  • Provide administration and operational support for:
  • VMware vSphere and ESXi environments
  • Virtual machine provisioning and lifecycle management
  • Enterprise storage platforms including Dell PowerStore
  • Fibre Channel SAN environments and Brocade switching infrastructure
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, firmware maintenance, patch management, and lifecycle planning.
  • Support datacenter operations, infrastructure monitoring, and high-availability initiatives.

Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

  • Support enterprise backup and recovery platforms including:
  • Veritas NetBackup
  • vRanger
  • Veeam
  • ARCServeHA
  • Cloud backup and DRaaS solutions
  • Enterprise tape library operations
  • Perform backup validation, restore testing, and recovery verification procedures.
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises, business continuity planning, and recovery documentation efforts.
  • Assist in maintaining operational runbooks, recovery procedures, and support documentation.

Operational Support & Technical Escalation

  • Provide support for infrastructure-related incidents, escalations, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Assist with Helpdesk escalation support and cross-functional operational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure system reliability, operational continuity, and service stability.

Documentation, Knowledge Transfer & Operational Readiness

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, operational procedures, and standards.
  • Participate in cross-training and knowledge transfer initiatives to reduce operational dependency risks and improve support coverage.
  • Contribute to operational governance, redundancy planning, and long-term infrastructure support strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and systems administration environments.
  • Strong experience with:
  • Windows Server administration
  • VMware virtualization platforms
  • Enterprise backup and disaster recovery technologies
  • Networking and core infrastructure services
  • HP Aruba and Cisco Meraki switching administration and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft 365 and cloud administration
  • Endpoint management solutions
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic enterprise environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • VMware certifications or equivalent enterprise experience.
  • Microsoft certifications.
  • Experience supporting enterprise SAN and storage infrastructure.
  • Experience working within highly available, enterprise-scale, or financial services environments.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks, operational governance, audit-related processes and security best practices
  • Experience supporting financial institutions, pension funds, or regulated enterprise environments preferred but not required.
