Unison acquires real estate assets across the United States and Europe in the telecommunications and renewable energy sectors. The position is based in Nice, serving as a strategic hub for European operations with a strong focus on France.

THE TEAM:

The Assistant General Counsel – Telecoms and Renewables (EU), based in Nice, will play a critical role in:

Managing the acquisition of telecom infrastructure assets, including cell towers, across France and EU markets. You will lead transactions across multiple jurisdictions, with particular focus on the French market, while supporting expansion into new territories.

Driving the growth of Unison’s renewable energy business in France and across Europe by working closely with landowners and renewable developers. This role requires an experienced legal professional with a proven ability to accelerate transactions to closing, facilitate negotiations with developers, and exercise strong judgment in assessing, underwriting, and managing portfolio risk. This is a hands-on role where you will actively drive transactions and contribute directly to business growth. You will collaborate closely with senior management, origination, pricing, and asset management teams. Over time, the role is expected to evolve into a specialization in renewables.

THE ROLE:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Telecommunications

Provide general support to the Regional General Counsel – Europe

Collaborate with the EU GC to support internal reporting and business alignment

Coordinate with internal and external legal counsel to manage transactions from initiation to closing, including under French legal frameworks

Liaise with brokers, tower operators, and site owners as required

Coordinate closing processes with external advisors including lawyers, notaries, banks, and other stakeholders

Conduct legal and real estate due diligence (leases, title checks, land registry)

Manage, track, and record transactions using internal systems

Support expansion in France and other jurisdictions

Provide basic advice on property-related taxes and fees

Prepare pre-closing reports, closing statements, and financial summaries

Train origination teams on real estate and regulatory matters

Draft and review contracts, leases, and notarial deeds

Oversee the full transaction lifecycle

Manage and supervise payment processes at closing

Lead weekly legal coordination meetings

Renewable Energy

Manage a pipeline of land lease acquisitions across France and the EU and coordinate closing support across finance, legal, origination, and leadership teams

Oversee lease acquisitions handled by internal legal teams and prepare underwriting analysis for senior management

Evaluate, structure, and support negotiations with renewable developers for sale-leaseback and land financing opportunities

Collaborate with EU and global leadership to develop innovative ground lease-based products tailored to the French market

Support entry into new markets, including entity setup, compliance, KYC processes, and transaction structuring aligned with risk criteria

Provide legal advice on commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 10 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or renewable energy developer environment

Strong background in renewable energy and real estate transactions

Experience or familiarity with French legal and notarial processes is highly desirable

Proficiency with Office 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Salesforce

Le développement de l’activité énergies renouvelables en France et en Europe, en collaboration avec des propriétaires fonciers et des développeurs. Le poste requiert un professionnel du droit expérimenté, capable d’accélérer les transactions jusqu’à leur closing, de négocier avec des développeurs et d’exercer un jugement solide dans l’évaluation, la structuration et la gestion des risques. Il s’agit d’un rôle opérationnel et hands-on, avec une contribution directe à la croissance de l’activité. Vous collaborerez étroitement avec le management, les équipes d’origination, de pricing et d’asset management. À terme, le poste évoluera vers une spécialisation en énergies renouvelables.

LE POSTE :

Les responsabilités incluent notamment :

Télécommunications

Assurer un support au Regional General Counsel – Europe

Collaborer avec l’EU GC pour le reporting interne et l’alignement avec le business

Coordonner avec les conseils juridiques internes et externes l’ensemble des transactions jusqu’au closing, notamment dans le cadre du droit français

Interagir avec les brokers, opérateurs et propriétaires de sites si nécessaire

Coordonner les opérations de closing avec les parties externes (avocats, notaires, banques, etc.)

Réaliser les due diligences juridiques et immobilières (baux, titres de propriété, cadastre)

Suivre et enregistrer les transactions dans les systèmes internes

Participer au développement en France et dans d’autres juridictions

Apporter un premier niveau de conseil en fiscalité immobilière

Préparer les rapports de pré-closing, les états de closing et les synthèses financières

Former les équipes d’origination aux sujets immobiliers et réglementaires

Rédiger et revoir les contrats, baux et actes notariés

Superviser l’ensemble du cycle de vie des transactions

Gérer et superviser les paiements lors des closings

Animer les réunions juridiques hebdomadaires

Énergies Renouvelables

Gérer un pipeline d’acquisitions de baux fonciers en France et en Europe et coordonner les closings avec les équipes finance, juridique, origination et direction

Superviser les acquisitions gérées en interne et préparer les analyses pour la direction

Évaluer, structurer et accompagner les négociations avec les développeurs (sale-leaseback, financement foncier)

Collaborer avec les équipes européennes et globales pour développer de nouveaux produits basés sur les baux fonciers

Accompagner l’entrée sur de nouveaux marchés (création de sociétés, conformité, KYC, structuration des opérations)

Apporter un conseil juridique en matière commerciale et corporate

PROFIL RECHERCHÉ :

Minimum 10 ans d’expérience juridique en cabinet et/ou chez un développeur en énergies renouvelables

Solide expérience en transactions immobilières et en énergies renouvelables

Bonne connaissance du droit immobilier français et des प्रक्रédures notariales appréciée

Maîtrise des outils Office 365, Teams, SharePoint et Salesforce
