Employment Type: Contract - hourly rate

Location: Nunavut - travel required as projects arise

About the Role

We are seeking a Communications and Public Relations Specialist with strong facilitation experience for a contract role. You will develop communications strategies, manage media and public relations activities, and facilitate stakeholder and community consultations.

You must be comfortable working under short turnaround timelines and be available to travel to communities across Nunavut as project needs arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communications plans and strategies
  • Write, edit, and proofread materials for a variety of audiences
  • Manage public relations and media information campaigns
  • Prepare brochures, newsletters, reports, and other communication tools
  • Facilitate community and multi-stakeholder consultation sessions
  • Organize and coordinate workshops, meetings, ceremonies, and public events
  • Develop sector-specific communications protocols and guidelines
  • Coordinate translation and proofreading into required languages as needed

Requirements

  • Experience in communications, public relations, or stakeholder facilitation
  • Proven experience working with Indigenous communities or in a northern/remote context
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience facilitating community consultations and multi-stakeholder sessions
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Nunavut communities as required
  • Knowledge of Nunavut tourism or cultural industries
  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
  • Proficiency in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, or French
