Job Title: Cloud Network Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 12 Months

Network Cloud Engineer (Global Network Engineering – Network Services)

The team:

The Global Network Engineering – The Bank’s Network Services team is responsible for maintaining the software and hardware standards for networks. The Bank’s Network team manages the technology in network infrastructure, network security and endpoint security that drives The Bank’s business systems.

The role:

Reporting to a Manager – Network Security and Network Systems. as a Network Cloud Engineer you will play a critical part in helping the team support the various technologies within The Bank’s Network.

  • You thrive on being hands-on during mid to complex project deployments into production. This will include the support of assigned systems by acting as an internal consultant on assigned infrastructure and providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity.
  • Leads, reviews, and consults on solutions & designs for assigned tasks. Provides recommendations for enhancements and improvements. Design, test, implementation and troubleshooting for large size of I&O environment
  • Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for Global Network Engineering and support teams to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve network services
  • Publish Standards , bug reviews, best practices , manage vendor relationship
  • Understand Global Networks operation issues and customer challenges , advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams like architecture, application, and operation teams
  • Develop network technology roadmap and seek for the approval
  • Mentors and coaches’ others in assigned area, transferring subject matter expertise to others
  • Perform new network product evaluation(i.e. POC) and produce report and recommendation independently, develop network solution architecture standard documents and seek the approval
  • Recognized as having advanced technical knowledge within network domains
  • Good communicator with ability to interact with various departments up to Director level
  • Works independently and able to provide technical guidance to junior team members, create best practices, recognize patterns for improvement and champion for improvement, guided by policies, operating plans and priorities
  • You understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decision

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You have 8+ years of hands-on technical working experience in supporting, deploying, and interconnecting various network technologies at an enterprise scale.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintaining cloud solutions followed by possession of at least one of the certification or equivalent knowledge: AWS (ANS-C01, SAA, SAP), Azure (AZ-700, AZ-305, AZ-500), GCP (PCSE, PCA, PCNE), Advanced Networking Specialist, Security Specialist).
  • Practical design experience with Cloud Services, Virtual Machine (VM, GCE, EC2) Container platforms (AKS, GKE, EKS, OpenShift)
  • Continuous Integration/Delivery (Pipelines, GitHub Actions, GCP Cloud Build, Jenkins)
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and monitoring tools, such as VPC Flow Logs, AWS CloudWatch, and Google Stackdriver.
  • Proficient in CLI, Terraform, ARM Templates and Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools. Powershell, BASH, Python scripting experience.
  • Agile Product Management – (Scrum, JIRA, Confluence, Kanban)
  • Deep understanding of network security best practices, including firewalls, Security Groups, and NACLs.
  • Experience in a customer-facing, role such as support engineer in the Cloud ecosystem
  • Cloud networking:
  • VNet/VPC, Routing (Regional, Global), Peering (Regional, Global, NCC), Connectivity (Expressroute, Interconnect, VPN)
  • Firewalls (NSG, FW Tags, Fortinet, Algosec)
  • DNS (Azure, Google Infoblox, Private and Public zones)
  • Protocols (TLS, HTTP, BGP)
  • Troubleshooting (SIEM, flowlogs, activity logs, tcpdump, ping etc...)
  • Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent network knowledge, with hands-on experience in router and switch administration.
  • Experience with at least one of the following firewall solutions: Fortinet, Cisco, allowing you to perform day to day tasks.
  • Hands on administration experience with Load Balancers like F5 including tasks such as configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • You possess a strong core foundation experience in fundamental network technologies and protocols.
  • Strong background in network performance optimization and traffic management techniques.
  • Strong infrastructure design skills with a passion for technology
  • You possess superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • You have strong communication (verbal/written) and good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Networking Technology, or related field.
