About Treeswift
In the face of rising threats, increasing pressure on affordability, and unprecedented demand for power, Treeswift empowers energy companies to modernize their field work to meet the growth and challenges ahead.
We build physical AI for the field worker: whether on foot or in a vehicle, our technology is an ironman suit for engineers, linemen, and vegetation crews: same worker, same boots on the ground, now operating at 10x productivity. Our platform is powered by cutting edge hardware, sensors (LiDAR, camera, etc…), AI and software designed to revolutionize work in the toughest environments.
Since our first pilot with a utility in June 2024, we've grown fast, now working with three of the five largest utilities in the US. To date, our technology has enabled our customers to reduce wildfire risk, regulatory and outage risk from vegetation, avoid delays and cost overruns in new construction, and accelerate recovery from severe storms.
To tackle this challenge, we are bringing together a team of mission-driven experts with deep industry experience in robotics (Penn, Caltech, CMU) and enterprise software development (Palantir, Stripe, Oracle, MongoDB). We have raised funding from leading investors including Penny Pritzker’s Inspired Capital.
We are headquartered in midtown Manhattan, with additional offices in San Francisco and Philadelphia.
Our growth is only accelerating. We’re looking for deeply curious and highly ambitious people who want to have a real world impact. Come build the future of (field) work with us.
The Position:
As a Field Operations Technician at Treeswift, your most important job is the customer relationship. You'll serve as the trusted on-the-ground partner who makes every deployment run smoothly and make sure that every customer feels confident in what Treeswift is delivering.
This is a hands-on, high-travel role for someone who thrives in autonomous environments, values precision, and works effectively across field teams and technical staff. This role is not just about operating equipment, it's about being a key part of how Treeswift shows up in the field.
You'll be part of a small, high-trust team that works closely together on the road to ensure every project is executed safely, professionally, and reliably. What sets the right person apart is the ability to build trust quickly, navigate unexpected situations with professionalism, and make customers feel like they're in good hands every single day in the field.
The technical side, operating LiDAR and sensor equipment, managing logistics, and ensuring data quality, is something you'll bring experience to and continue to build on as our technology evolves.
What You'll Do
- Lead field data collections across utility pilots and deployments, including work with PG&E and other top-tier utilities, covering terrain that ranges from suburban sidewalks to remote, steep, and densely vegetated landscapes in variable climates
- Carry and operate a 11-lb backpack sensor system on foot for multiple miles off-trail, as well as collect data from vehicles on unpaved roads, utility rights-of-way, and remote sites
- Act as a critical feedback loop between the field and internal teams, regularly syncing with Deployment, Product, and Engineering to surface insights, flag issues, and help shape how Treeswift's technology and operations evolve.
- Operate and troubleshoot Treeswift's field equipment including LiDAR, cameras, and sensors, making sure every collection meets our quality and completeness standards
- Own the logistics that make deployments happen, from equipment and shipping coordination to site routing and daily route planning
- Serve as the customer face on the ground, ensuring data is collected properly, and communicating what's actually happening in the field back to the team
- Train customer users on data collection systems and provide hands-on support when needed
- Spot and flag process gaps, equipment issues, and edge cases in the field, feeding those insights back into how Treeswift improves its technology and operations
Who You Are
- You have 2-4+ years of experience in fieldwork, operations, or logistics-intensive roles, ideally in professional environments with formal safety protocols and team-based operations such as NPS, BLM, USFS, AmeriCorps, outdoor research, or the military
- You are comfortable with 50-75% travel and capable of long days outdoors in variable weather conditions, including early starts and remote locations
- You are a strong cross-functional communicator who can translate what's happening in the field into clear, actionable insights for internal teams and manage expectations with a customer
- You hold a valid driver's license and are confident navigating remote areas, unpaved roads, and utility corridors in a vehicle
- You are a natural relationship builder who can show up professionally with a utility executive one day and a field crew the next, and make both feel equally supported
- You are highly organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle gear, files, field reports, and logistics across multiple active deployments without things slipping through the cracks
- You thrive in autonomous environments where you are trusted to make good decisions on the ground without someone looking over your shoulder
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with tree identification, wildfire mitigation, or GIS tools
- Safety or medical certifications such as Wilderness First Responder or similar
- Exposure to sensor-based data collection or high-tech field gear such as LiDAR, GPS, cameras, or drones
Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity package
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your eligible dependents
- Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage
- 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave to support all new parents
- Flexible, unlimited paid time off
- 401(k) retirement savings plan
- Free OneMedical membership
- Commuter benefits
- Snacks, goodies, and team lunches provided twice a week to keep you fueled and connected with your colleagues.

- Mission first. We value team members who are focused on working towards the best outcomes for the customer and the business.
- Curiosity. We are constantly learning – from each other and from our customers.. We aren’t afraid to learn we were wrong in the process and adapt our approach accordingly.
- Owners mindset. If you see an opportunity for improvement, run with it. We believe that good ideas can come from anywhere, no matter your role.
