Job description

Our client, a well-established marine and civil contractor based on Vancouver Island, BC, is seeking a Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of marine and civil infrastructure projects valued up to approximately $5M. Relocation assistance available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage marine and civil construction projects from award through to completion, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules while proactively identifying and resolving project risks and delays.
  • Monitor project costs, forecasts, budgets, and progress billings to ensure strong financial performance.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, materials, equipment, and internal resources to support efficient project execution.
  • Prepare and negotiate subcontract agreements, purchase orders, change orders, and pricing for extra work.
  • Review daily project reports, labour productivity, and cost controls while supporting field operations throughout project execution.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Superintendents and field crews to provide technical support and develop creative solutions to site issues.
  • Identify contractual risks, potential claims, and project challenges, communicating recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience delivering marine, heavy civil, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, cost control, and change management.
  • Experience managing projects valued up to approximately $5M.
  • Comfortable taking a hands-on approach to project delivery and working closely with field operations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • PMP designation is considered an asset but is not required.
