Bilingual School Based Mental Health Therapist

Role Description The Bilingual School Based Mental Health Therapist is a full-time, on-site role located in Columbia, MD. This position provides individual and family counseling, crisis intervention, and ongoing support to students within a school setting. The therapist conducts mental health assessments, develops and implements treatment plans, and coordinates services with school staff, families, and external providers. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate documentation, participating in multidisciplinary meetings, and delivering psychoeducation and skill-building interventions. The therapist promotes a safe, inclusive environment and supports students in achieving academic and social-emotional goals.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Mental Health and Treatment Planning, including assessing needs and developing individualized care plans.
• Experience in Social Work and Case Management, with the ability to coordinate services and advocate for student and family needs.
• Competence in Family Therapy, including engaging caregivers and supporting family systems.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide services in both languages.
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field, and eligibility for relevant professional licensure (e.g., LCSW-C, LCPC, LG, LMSW) in Maryland.
• Experience working in school-based or child and adolescent mental health settings.
• Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and strengths-based practices.
