Job description
About TILT
TILT Autonomy builds autonomous systems for commercial and defense applications. We're a small, highly technical team, and most of us come from engineering or defense backgrounds.
We're growing, and we need experienced hands that already know what they're doing.
The Role
You'll take assemblies from parts to finished product and set the standard for how it's done — building and testing electronics and mechanical subassemblies. You'll work closely with our mechanical and electrical engineers and have meaningful influence over process improvements.
Because we're a small team, the role also includes general shop and operations tasks — parts inventory, receiving and breaking down shipments, and the everyday work of keeping a production space running.
You already care about quality, you're fluent with technical documentation, and you know the difference between "close enough" and "done right."
What You'll Own
Assembly & Integration
- Build and test electronics assemblies — cable harnesses, PCBAs, connectors, housings
- Assemble mechanical subassemblies to engineering drawings and BOMs
- Perform functional checks and diagnostics after assembly
Production & Documentation
- Follow, maintain, and improve build instructions, traveler documents, and inspection checklists
- Log build steps, test results, and nonconformances in our system
- Own incoming inspection: verify parts against POs, identify damage, maintain inventory accuracy
Continuous Improvement & Leadership
- Identify and resolve process inefficiencies and recurring assembly issues
- Develop and refine build procedures as our product line matures
- Set the quality bar and, as we grow, help train and mentor junior technicians
- Support packaging and shipping of finished units, including documentation prep
What We're Looking For
Must have:
- 5+ years of hands-on electronics or electromechanical assembly experience
- Proficient soldering and crimping — through-hole and SMT; comfortable with fine-pitch work
- Ability to read and work fluently from engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions
- Experience with ESD protocols and handling sensitive electronics
- Comfort with test equipment: multimeters, power supplies, basic diagnostics
- Careful, methodical work habits — attention to detail isn't optional here
Strongly preferred:
- Background in aerospace, defense, marine, or other precision manufacturing environments
- Experience with unmanned systems, autopilot hardware, or embedded electronics
Nice to have
- IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 certification or equivalent workmanship standards experience
- Experience developing build procedures or travelers from scratch
- Familiarity with Formlabs, 3D Printing, or other additive manufacturing equipment
Pay: $24.98 - $30.09 per hour
Benefits
- Health insurance
- Health savings account
- Paid time off
Work Location: In person
