Job Description

The Secret Service is looking for courageous, intelligent, and determined individuals to serve as Police Officers. As a member of our diverse team, you will balance critical investigative missions with our protective legacy. We are seeking candidates who are proven to be trustworthy and capable of maintaining high standards of performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide protection for high-profile locations including The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, as well as foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in Washington, D.C.
  • Travel to support the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
  • Enforce protective responsibilities as defined under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
  • Must possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Be at least 21 years old at the time of application, and under 40 at referral (certain exceptions apply for prior federal law enforcement service).
  • Capable of carrying and using a firearm, with mandatory maintenance of firearm proficiency.
  • Uncorrected visual acuity must be no worse than 20/100 binocular, with corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
  • Hearing loss cannot exceed 25 decibels in either ear within specified ranges and must hear a whispered voice at 15 feet without a hearing aid.
  • Must pass a drug test prior to appointment and ongoing random drug testing thereafter.
  • Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must certify registration with the Selective Service System or exemption status.
