The Counter Sniper Team (CS) is a distinguished unit within the U.S. Secret Service Police committed to delivering exceptional long-range observation and tactical support to U.S. Secret Service protective details. Our unit plays a pivotal role during designated missions, protectees, and National Special Security Events (NSSEs).

Duties

• Provide security for key locations including The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies.
• Travel in support of missions involving the President, Vice President, and foreign heads of state or government.
• Enforce protective responsibilities as required under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
• Age: Applicants must be at least 20 years old at the time of application and under 40 at the time of referral. Exceptions may apply for individuals with relevant prior federal law enforcement service.
• Ability to carry and use a firearm, maintaining mandatory proficiency.
• Visual requirements: Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular, corrected acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
• Hearing requirements: Must not exceed 25 decibels in the specified frequency ranges in either ear, and must be able to hear a whispered voice at 15 feet without a hearing aid.
• Successful completion of a drug test prior to appointment and random drug tests thereafter.
• Must complete a 12-week CS Selection and Basic Training.
• Completion of 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM, followed by 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
• If male and born after December 31, 1959, must certify registration with the Selective Service System, or indicate exemption.
