Key Responsibilities:
- Protect high-profile locations such as The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and various foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
- Travel to support missions for the President, Vice President, and foreign heads of state/government.
- Enforce protective responsibilities pursuant to Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Eligibility Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old and under 40 at the time of referral, with possible exceptions for qualified federal law enforcement veterans.
- Capable of carrying and using a firearm; maintaining proficiency is required.
- Uncorrected vision of no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected vision of 20/20 or better in each eye.
- Hearing ability must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz, and applicants must hear a whispered voice at 15 feet without a hearing aid.
- Pass a drug test prior to appointment and submit to random drug testing while employed.
- Complete a 12-week intensive training program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM, followed by 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must certify registration with the Selective Service System or claim exemption.
