Work Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Hours: 37.5 Line of Business: Technology Solutions Pay Details: $96,900 - $136,800 CAD This role is eligible for a discretionary variable compensation award that considers business and individual performance. Job Description: Provide guidance and advice across a broad range of highly complex or specialized data engineering functions including data modeling, data quality, data profiling, data acquisition and ingestion, extract transform load (ETL and ELT), metadata enrichment and management, data provenance and lineage, and other specialized data management functions. Lead or provide expertise to Data Analysts /Specialists in defining and managing detailed system design for data integration processes or data marts/ warehouse builds or extensions Interface with the architecture group to determine the overall solution and ensure conformance to established data management standards Work closely with various technology teams, business systems analysis, development and project teams in the creation of detailed system requirements, specification documents related to Data Management initiatives and resolve information flow and content issues Coordinate with various infrastructure teams for assessing impacts of projects on storage, network, database infrastructure Create development estimates for various phases of project requests and responsible for reviewing and approving business / system specification requirements, authoring system design specifications and system deployment plans Collaborate with testing services and approving test strategy and plans Coordinate with project managers and resource manager to establish project plan and allocate resources to the project Responsible for leading the implementation and support of leading-edge, data warehouse / big data environments Support data warehouse (ETL) data management process in database usage and data warehousing. Extract data from homogeneous or heterogeneous data sources and transform the data for storing in proper format or structure for querying and analysis purposes Load data into the final target (database, operational data stores, data marts, or data warehouse) Ensure metadata and data lineage is captured and compatible with enterprise metadata and data management tools and processes Provide data management expertise t to the development and testing teams to resolve data issues Implement , maintain and enhance Data Governance, Data Quality and related policies, in alignment with TD's Enterprise standards and frameworks in collaboration with the Data Managers/Stewards/Owners Oversee that requirements regarding privacy and security of data, data governance and access controls are appropriately captured. Comply with well-defined enterprise technology delivery practices and standards and project management disciplines Lead coordination efforts with other technology work teams such as, ITS, Architecture, TRMIS etc. to ensure project success Perform or lead complex analysis in an evolving data environment and gather, analyze, document and maintain all data requirements related to the business applications, interfaces, and reporting environments in different kinds of data maps. Apply standards and best practices to ensure that the application’s data is accurate, complete, current, understandable, and accessible Define, build and manage data dictionary / catalog for respective data platforms, systems / servers / applications Manage and coordinate efforts of data modelers, data warehouse/data integration developers, and Extract, Transform and Load conformance to established data management standards Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest. Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business; Continuously enhance knowledge / expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team SHAREHOLDER Leads coordination & and manages expectations with the technology work teams such as ITS, ARE, Architecture, Enterprise Protect etc. to ensure overall delivery success Perform or lead data analysis/investigations of complex issues/ test cases as part of UAT/PAT testing Escalation points for post implementation activities during the warranty period Approves code check-in/ check-out into source code repository as part of source code management Leads coordination with ITS/ ARE teams to support code packaging & deployment (CI & CD) into higher environments Be the lead participant in the design & architecture reviews or the application Escalation points for service-now requests & other activities related to release management Lead data engineering initiatives and capabilities, data governance principles and how they apply across the organization Lead design and implementation of enterprise/segment metadata management initiatives across the board with a wholistic mindset Adhere & lead standard security coding practices to ensure application is free of most common coding vulnerabilities Have oversight responsibility to ensure technical decisions, technical risks and lessons learned are identified, implemented and clearly documented Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high-risk activities as necessary Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines May act as lead data engineer and technology asset owner Lead initiatives on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools, and techniques EMPLOYEE / TEAM Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for Data engineering best practices and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities Actively mentors and enables team members by sharing knowledge and leveraging engineering best practices. Supports the team by providing guidance and proactively identifying and resolving issues Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners / stakeholders to develop productive working relationships. Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally BREADTH & DEPTH Expert knowledge of the technical environment/ tools for own area Expert knowledge of business processes and procedures, as well as broader organizational issues and technology Advanced knowledge of business/ organization, Bank standards infrastructure, architecture and technology in related areas from a design/support/ solutions perspective Data-centric position, focus is broader than application development Requires a blend of skills in big data technologies, database management, data integration tools, system administration, and business acumen.
