Job Description
The Planet Group has partnered with a Boston area company to locate a full-stack developer with strong backend Node.js skills for a full-time role.
This is a hybrid role and candidates should expect to be onsite three days a week.
The ideal candidate will be a Senior Engineer who thrives in early-stage environments and enjoys building meaningful products from the ground up. This role is ideal for an engineer who is strongest on the backend but comfortable contributing to modern frontend applications.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the architecture and feature development of a high-impact SaaS platform, working closely with a small, collaborative engineering team. This is a hands‑on position with high ownership, direct product influence, and significant technical autonomy.

Responsibilities Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) Architect and maintain server‑side applications using Node.js Model and optimize relational databases (Postgres/SQL), including schema design and query performance tuning Build and improve features within a modern React‑based frontend (Remix, Next.js, or similar) Develop and maintain infrastructure in AWS (Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, RDS, IAM, etc.) Manage cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK) Improve system scalability, caching strategies, and overall performance Contribute to product direction and technical decision‑making in a small, high‑impact team Occasionally collaborate cross‑functionally and support customer‑facing discussions when needed Required Skills / Experience 5–10 years of professional software engineering experience Strong backend experience with Node.js and server‑side application design Deep familiarity with AWS services and cloud architecture best practices Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code Strong understanding of relational databases and schema modeling Experience designing and maintaining APIs Experience working with modern frontend frameworks (React, Remix, Next.js) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field Comfort operating in a fast‑paced, startup‑style environment with high ownership Preferred Skills Experience building applications within the Shopify ecosystem Exposure to AI/LLM integrations or multi‑agent architectures Automated testing experience (e.g., Selenium or similar tools) Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA) Experience working in early‑stage startups or an interest in future entrepreneurship
